Classes

October 9 – “You Can Bank on It”

This class covers everyday banking and financial services. Participants will learn about different financial products (checking and savings accounts, debit cards etc.) and how to establish a relationship with a bank or credit union. The instructor explains how to choose, open, and manage accounts, and how to use banking services safely

October 23 – “Your Income and Expenses”

This class teaches participants how to track and manage their money flow. The focus is on understanding all sources of income (paychecks, side jobs, benefits) and categorizing expenses (fixed bills, everyday spending, etc.). Instructors show how to read pay statements, keep a spending log, and balance a simple budget.

October 30- “Your Spending and Savings Plan”

This class covers budgeting and planning for the month ahead. Participants learn to build a spending/saving plan by setting income and expense targets, then adjusting them (by increasing income or cutting costs) as needed. The class also discusses prioritizing expenses when money is tight

*Break for the Holidays*

January 8 – “Your Savings”

In this class, participants learn strategies for saving money toward goals and emergencies. The instructor explains why saving is important, how to set up and use savings accounts, and how interest and deposit insurance work. Topics include setting SMART savings goals, deciding where to keep saved funds, and building an emergency fund.
